Fab Food Friday
Back in the 80’s while working at Hayden Lake Country Club I worked with this old bartender named Joe. He was a crotchety old guy about 7 feet tall, skinny as a rail with a new joke everyday. Loved the guy! Well, he also made the most fantastic lemonade I have ever tasted! It was made by making a flavored, sweetened base that you mixed with muddled citrus and soda water. Awesome for a hot summer day! Add a splash of vodka if you want a kick!
Old Joe’s Fab Lemonade
3 lb Sugar
1 qrt Water
Combine sugar and water in a sauce pan and bring to a boil. Remove from heat and allow to cool completely.
When cool add:
1 tsp Almond Extract
1 Tbl Lemon Extract
1 Tbl Orange Extract
To make a glass of lemonade:
Muddle a couple slices of each lemon, lime and orange in a tall glass.
Add 2 oz of Joe’s Fab Lemonade Syrup to the glass
Add Ice
Top off with club soda or sparkling water
Enjoy immensely!
You can adjust sweetness as desired by adjusting the amount of syrup used.
